Job summary

The Arc Carroll County in Westminster, MD is seeking energetic Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to work in our Meaningful Day Program. 30 hours per week, Monday–Friday, with daytime hours and paid training provided.

Role involves supporting adults with developmental disabilities in small groups and one-on-one settings, delivering person-centered activities, and documenting progress according to state requirements. Compensation includes competitive hourly pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• Must be 18+ years old.
• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license with at least 2 years driving experience.
• Able to pass background, drug, and driving record checks.
• Basic computer and keyboarding skills are expected.
• CPR, First Aid, Med Tech Certification, and DDA-mandated trainings are required.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and assist with transfers.
• Able to stand for extended periods and perform bending, stooping, reaching, pulling, and pushing.
• Able to assist with wheelchair handling and safe transfers.

Responsibilities

• Support individuals in small groups and 1:1 settings with person-centered activities.
• Create and implement meaningful activities tailored to each person’s goals and interests.
• Encourage skill development in job readiness, social skills, self-care, math, reading, and safety.
• Provide personal care and mobility support as needed.
• Assist with community access and transportation.
• Promote independence, decision-making, and self-advocacy.
• Document services and progress per agency and state requirements.
