Job summary

PathPoint is seeking a full-time Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join the Life Skills Plus day program in Thousand Oaks, CA. You will lead in-person, community-based, and virtual classes focused on art, music, cooking, volunteering, and more.

We value creativity and compassion, encourage new curriculum ideas, and support your growth. The position is hourly, non-exempt, with a schedule Monday–Friday, 8:00am–3:30pm, in a mix of indoor/outdoor settings.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid California driver’s license with satisfactory driving record required.
• Comfortable working indoors and outdoors.
• Bilingual pay bonus if applicable (Spanish or ASL).

Responsibilities

• Teach social and life skills to help individuals lead more independent lives.
• Teach vocational skills to prepare for entry-level employment.
• Supervise individuals during instruction hours and community outings.
• Build positive rapport and model professional work habits.
• Prepare weekly schedules, monthly training projections, and reports.

PathPoint is excited to welcome full-time Direct Support Professionals (DSP) to join our Life Skills Plus day program in Thousand Oaks CA 91360. PathPoint's day services provide skills training and support for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. As a Direct Support Professional, you will lead in-person, community-based, and virtual classes. The curriculum includes art, music, cooking, volunteering, and more. We're looking for creative and compassionate people who are teachers at heart, and we encourage you to bring your own ideas for new curriculum!

We serve communities across Kern, Los Angeles, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura counties.

Schedule

Monday-Friday 8:00am - 3:30pm

Compensation

This is an hourly, non-exempt position starting at $26.00 per hour. The pay range for this position is $24.70 per hour -$27.30 per hour. The pay range is subject to change based on a variety of factors.

What You'll Do

• Teach individuals social/life skills to help them lead more independent lives, including communication skills, mobility, money management, housing, and public transportation.
• Teach individuals vocational skills to help prepare them for entry-level employment.
• Supervise individuals during hours of instruction and on community outings and volunteering.
• Build friendly and professional rapport with individuals and act as a positive role model for work habits, communication skills, and social skills.
• Prepare weekly schedules, monthly training projections, and written progress reports.

What We're Looking For

• Patience, compassion, and the ability to interact with individuals with disabilities, their family members, and others in a positive and constructive manner.
• Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors.
• Must have a valid California driver's license with a satisfactory driving record and be eligible for coverage on PathPoint's auto insurance policy.
