Seven Hills Foundation in Worcester, MA seeks a Direct Support Professional I (DSP I) for Children's Congregate Care to provide direct care and supervision to youth in 24/7 acute and congregate residential programs.

Under supervision, you help create a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment, participate in a multidisciplinary team, and support emotional growth and positive behavior while adhering to safety, HIPAA, and trauma-informed practices.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety, supervision, and well-being of youth through engagement.
• Monitor treatment milieu, identify risks, and escalate when needed.
• Support development of therapeutic milieu promoting social growth and emotional regulation.
• Maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.
• Participate in daily upkeep, including chores, laundry, and meal prep.
• Accurately document client care, shift notes, and incident reports.
• Maintain awareness of treatment plans and crisis prevention strategies.
• Remain compliant with certifications and agency policies.
• Collaborate with team in trauma-informed, strengths-based care.

Schedule: Sunday 7am- 3pm, Sunday 3pm-11pm, Monday 3pm- 11pm, Tuesday 3pm-11pm and Wednesday 3pm-11pm

The Direct Support Professional I (DSP I) - Children's Congregate Care provides direct care and supervision to youth in Seven Hills' 24/7 acute and congregate residential care programs. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team and under the direction of a Shift Supervisor, the DSP I helps create and maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment that supports emotional growth, stability, and positive behavioral change for children and adolescents with complex needs.

This position is considered an essential role and may require working beyond scheduled shifts or reporting during declared states of emergency to maintain required staffing ratios.

What You’ll Do

• Ensure the safety, supervision, and well-being of youth through active engagement and therapeutic interaction.
• Monitor the treatment milieu, identify safety risks, and take appropriate corrective action, escalating concerns to supervisory staff as needed.
• Support the development of a therapeutic milieu that promotes:
• Social growth and healthy peer relationships
• Emotional expression and self-regulation
• Positive behavior and improved daily functioning
• Establish and maintain appropriate professional boundaries, including:
• Physical, emotional, and logistical boundaries
• Confidentiality and HIPAA compliance
• Professional interactions with coworkers, caregivers, providers, and visitors
• Participate in the daily upkeep and cleanliness of the program, including:
• Supporting youth with chores, laundry, and meal preparation
• Conducting room and safety checks
• Accurately document client care, including:
• Shift notes, logs, and rehabilitation documentation (as required by program)
• Medication administration records
• Incident reports and safety documentation
• Maintain awareness of individual treatment plans, safety plans, and specialized programming.
• Utilize crisis prevention and de-escalation strategies consistent with agency policy (CPI), using physical interventions only when necessary and authorized.
• Maintain required certifications and comply with all program and agency policies.
• Act as a reliable and collaborative team member, arriving prepared, communicating effectively, and approaching care from a trauma-informed, strengths-based, and culturally responsive perspective.
