Job summary

Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health in Howell Township, NJ is seeking Direct Support Professionals to help adults with autism and developmental disabilities build independence and life skills in residential or day program settings.

You will work with a collaborative team to ensure safety, wellbeing and participation in daily activities, including community-based opportunities, while fostering growth and empowerment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid, non-provisional driver's license required.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Two-week paid new hire orientation training that is hybrid and in person.
• Sound judgment and ability to respond calmly and seek support when needed.
• Empathy, reliability, and a team-oriented approach to supporting adults with autism and developmental disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Direct Support Professionals may work in residential group homes or vocational day programs.
• Help ensure the safety, health, and well-being of individuals in our care.
• Coach and assist individuals in daily living skills (food prep, cooking, cleaning, shopping).
• Support planning, implementation, and documentation of programs addressing social, emotional, physical, and personal needs.
• Plan and participate in community-based employment, volunteer opportunities, and outings to promote involvement and independence.
• Build positive relationships with individuals’ families to ensure the individuals thrive under care.
• Safely transporting individuals to appointments and activities.
