Job summary

Easterseals PORT Health is hiring a Direct Support Professional to assist individuals with IDD in West Jefferson, NC. This full-time role includes Saturday 7am–Mon 10am shifts and periodic PRN coverage, on-site with required 8-hour sleep on-site during shifts.

You will provide daily living support, meal prep, housekeeping, personal care, and documentation in the EHR. A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required, with on-site work and growth opportunities offered within a

• Experience with everyday tasks and documentation in care settings.
• Comfort with on-site work and responsible to clock in/out on shift.
• Ability to transport clients and accompany to appointments.
• Proficiency with EHR systems or willingness to learn typical software.

As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you’ll play a critical role in carrying out that mission by helping people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) complete everyday living tasks and achieve their goals.

Position details: Full Time and PRN available schedules

Location: West Jefferson, North Carolina

Compensation: $15.00/hour

Position details: FULL TIME – Saturday 7am to Monday 10am plus float hours

PART TIME PRN – periodic, as needed

You are required to stay on site for the duration of your shift & clock out to sleep each night for 8hrs.

Your Role in Our Mission

• Assist with everyday tasks such as housekeeping, meal preparation, cooking, and cleaning; personal care such as bathing and dressing, toiletry and changing diapers; as well as employment support.
• You may transport the client to appointments and run errands.
• Help plan and organize their schedule.
• Daily documentation and reporting in the electronic health system of record.

Experience: entry-level, on-the-job training is provided

• Education: high school diploma or GED is required
• Knowledge: basic housekeeping, basic nutrition, and safety protocols
• Skills: interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and dependability are a must!
• Technology: proficiency with EHR systems or technically savvy to learn
• Transportation: DSPs must have reliable transportation, driver’s license, and current auto insurance
