Job summary

Easterseals PORT Health is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) for a part-time shift at our Albemarle group home. The schedule runs Saturday 8am to Monday 8am with a sleepover, on-site for the entire shift, with paid time if you assist residents at night.

You will help with daily living tasks, housekeeping, meals, personal care, and transportation as needed. Training provided (CPR/first-aid, Mindset, Medication Administration, Infectious Disease, and Seizure Management); benefits

Qualifications

• Experience: entry-level, on-the-job training is provided.
• Education: A High school diploma or GED is required.
• Knowledge: basic housekeeping, basic nutrition, and safety protocols.
• Skills: Interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and dependability are essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide care in the home of the individual and the community they live in.
• Assist with housekeeping, meals, personal care, and employment support.
• Transport the client to appointments and run errands as needed.
• Help plan and organize the individual's schedule and document daily activities.

As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you’ll play a critical role in carrying out that mission by helping people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) complete everyday living tasks and achieve their goals.

Position Details

Part-Time role available – Schedule is Saturday 8am to Monday 8am with sleepover at the group home.

You are required to stay on site for the duration of your shift & clock out to sleep each night for 8hrs. In the event you had to get up in the night to assist a resident you would be compensated for your time. Guests & pets are not allowed. Overtime is occasionally available on site, but regularly available at regional group homes for those looking for extra hours. This would be working at our Mental Health Group Home located in Albemarle.

Location: Albemarle

Compensation: $15.00

Your Role in Our Mission

• You will provide care in the home of the individual and the community they live in
• Assist with everyday tasks such as housekeeping, meal preparation, cooking, and cleaning; personal care such as bathing and dressing; and employment support
• You may transport the client to appointments and run errands
• Help plan and organize their schedule
• Daily documentation and reporting in the electronic health system of record
