Job summary

Washington State Department of Social and Health Services seeks a Direct Support Professional/Attendant Counselor 2 to provide compassionate support, supervision, and training to children and youth in the Intensive Habilitation Services program in Lakewood, WA.

Role includes assisting with daily living skills, personal care, and behavior plans, plus transportation and community activities in a team environment. A NAC/NAR license within 120 days is required or possible.

Qualifications

• 1 year of experience working with people with developmental disabilities or related challenges.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to obtain NAC/NAR license within 120 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Coach, teach, and mentor children and youth with intellectual disabilities.
• Assist and train participants with daily living skills and personal care.
• Implement habilitation and behavioral plans.
• Transport and accompany clients to appointments and activities.
• Maintain a safe, clean IHS home while respecting personal property.
• Support with emergency situations and document care in an electronic system.
• Contribute to community integration and relationship building.
