Job summary

New Horizons in Autism, Inc. (NHIA) is seeking a Direct Support Professional to assist adults with autism in a residential home in New Jersey. The role focuses on independence, safety, and daily living skills, with paid training and opportunities for growth.

Starting Pay: $19.00 per hour. NHIA offers comprehensive training, benefits, and opportunities to advance within a non-profit organization committed to quality care and community support.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or higher degree (diploma or transcripts required).
• Must be at least 20 years of age.
• Valid New Jersey driver's license (non-probationary).
• Effective communication, both verbal and written.
• Ability to interact professionally with individuals with autism.
• Complete pre-employment requirements: Central Registry, CARI, DMV Check, Drug Screening, Physical Exam, PPD Testing.

Responsibilities

• Providing direct care and supervision in a residential home.
• Assisting with personal care and daily living activities.
• Administering and documenting medications.
• Teaching and reinforcing independent living and life skills.
• Providing transportation to appointments and community activities.
• Completing required documentation accurately and professionally.
• Supporting the overall day-to-day operation of the residence.
