Job summary

Hope Christian Services in Allendale, NJ is seeking a compassionate Direct Support Professional to join our group home team. You will help individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities with daily living activities, monitor health needs, and promote independence in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Excellent communications and interpersonal skills.
• Attention to details and organizational skills.
• High school diploma or equivalent and valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to work as a team and independently.
• Physical ability to lift up to 35 lbs independently, with up to 2-person lifts using a hoyer lift.
• Submit to a criminal background check and clearance by the Department of Human Services prior to hire.
• Submit to drug testing prior to employment and randomly / for cause.
• Agree to background checks with Central Registry for Developmental Disabilities and Child Abuse Records.
• Cooperate with the licensee and staff in inspections.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with daily living activities, including bathing, dressing, and grooming.
• Administer medications and monitor vital signs as needed.
• Assist with meal planning and preparation, ensuring proper nutrition.
• Provide emotional support and companionship to residents, and engage them in meaningful activities.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of resident care and progress.
• Transport residents to outings, events and the Possibility Center Day Program.
