Job summary

Advancing Opportunities is seeking Direct Support Professionals (DSP) in New Jersey to help individuals with disabilities achieve greater independence and quality of life. You will assist with daily living activities, promote independence, and provide compassionate support.

Responsibilities include personal care, meal prep, documenting progress, and coordinating care with families and team members. A driver’s license and CPR/First Aid certification are preferred or willingness to obtain.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 20 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent; further education in a related field is a plus.
• Previous experience in direct support, caregiving, or a related field preferred.
• Compassionate and patient demeanor with a genuine desire to help others.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation (if required for the position).
• CPR and First Aid certification (or willing to obtain).

Responsibilities

• Support clients in daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and household management.
• Foster a positive and respectful relationship with clients while promoting their independence and personal choices.
• Assist clients in developing skills for everyday living and participate in social and recreational activities.
• Document client progress and maintain accurate records of care and support provided.
• Communicate effectively with clients, families, and other team members to ensure coordinated care.
