Job summary

Sunrise Community, Inc. is seeking a Direct Support professional in Florida to provide support, supervision and encouragement to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

The role focuses on promoting independence, safety, and quality of life in community and residential settings. Hires include a valid driver's license with endorsements and at least 3 years of driving experience, plus a high school diploma.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Driver's License with endorsements and at least 3 years of driving experience.
• Basic computer skills to perform daily tasks and documentation.
• High School Diploma or equivalent as required by work location.
• Minimum one year of experience in the human service field if required by work location.

Responsibilities

• Identifies and reports any suspected abuse or violations of an individual’s rights.
• Provides support, assistance and supervision to meet the needs and goals of individuals per their plans.
• Ensures training, behavior and support programs are implemented and documented per regulatory requirements.
• Maintains health, safety and well-being of individuals at all times.
• Provides a positive, reinforcing environment promoting independence and choice.
• Follows positioning schedules, uses proper equipment and assistive devices per plan.
• Assists with diet, texture and equipment as needed.
• Ensures homes, outdoor areas and vehicles are well maintained and organized.
