Job summary

Sunrise Community in Florida is seeking Direct Support staff to provide supervision, support and companionship to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. You will drive as needed, follow individualized plans, and document training and progress in accordance with regulations.

The role requires a valid driver's license with endorsements, basic computer skills, and at least one year in human services.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid driver's license with endorsements and have a minimum of 3 years of driving experience.
• Must possess basic computer skills.
• High School Diploma or equivalent if required by work location.
• Minimum one year of experience working in the human service field if required by work location.

Responsibilities

• Identifies and reports suspected abuse or violations of an individual’s rights.
• Provides support, assistance and supervision to meet individual goals according to plans.
• Ensures training, behavior and support programs are implemented and documented per regulatory requirements.
• Protects health, safety and well-being of individuals at all times.
• Provides a positive environment that promotes independence and choice.
• Follows positioning schedules and uses proper equipment as per plan.
• Assists with diets, textures, and equipment as required.
• Keeps homes, outside areas and vehicles well maintained and organized.
