NYS Office for People With Developmental Disabilities is seeking Direct Support Assistants to help individuals with developmental disabilities lead richer lives. Under supervision you will provide supports, advocate for personal choice, and assist with daily living activities while ensuring safety.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED or a Direct Support Professional certificate, and a valid NYS driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or DSP certificate from a recognized organization.
• Valid New York State driver’s license required and must be maintained during employment as a DSA.
• Must meet physical and agility standards.

Responsabilités

• Provide supports and services.
• Advocate, encourage, guide and teach individuals in expressing personal choice.
• Ensure community integration.
• Assist individuals with personal hygiene care, toileting, dining, dressing, meal prep, lifts and transfers.
• Help individuals participate in games and recreational programs.
• Coach and encourage development of daily living skills.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment.
• Collaborate with staff to carry out and record care plans.
• Administer medication according to specific instructions.
