Job summary

RHDD in Southeast Ohio is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to support individuals with developmental disabilities in their homes and the community. You will help with daily living tasks and promote independence through compassionate, person-centered care.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Valid Driver’s License with fewer than six points is required.
• Reliable transportation with proof of state minimum auto insurance for work-related travel.

Responsibilities

• Provide services to individuals with developmental disabilities in their homes and in the community.
• Assist with daily living tasks including housekeeping, meals, menu prep, grocery shopping and finances.
• Assist with personal hygiene such as bathing, grooming, dressing and undressing, feeding, toileting and positioning.

As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you could be wearing many hats. A DSP provides services to individuals with developmental disabilities in their homes and out in the community.

You could be teaching the individuals we serve how to complete a given task.

You could be assisting the individuals with daily living activities which may include housekeeping, meal and menu prep, grocery shopping, day to day finances etc.

You could be assisting the individuals with personal hygiene examples include but not limited to: bathing, grooming, dressing and undressing, feeding toileting and positioning when necessary.

You could be providing transportation for the individual to delegated activities. Which could include, but not limited to doctor appointments, outings into the community, shopping and vacations.

You could be documenting and administering medication and health related tasks.

You could be reporting to your supervisor any suspected need of medical attention, evidence of abuse, neglect and other health and safety issues.

You could be gaining a friend to the individuals. They will see you as someone they can trust. They could even become like an extended family.

Minimum Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• 18 years of age or older
• Valid Driver’s License (with less than six (6) points).
• Reliable transportation with current proof of state minimum auto insurance, most positions require use of personal automobile during work hours
