Job summary

Easterseals PORT Health is seeking Direct Support Professionals to assist individuals with IDD in Wilmington, NC, and surrounding areas. You will provide in-home care, help with daily tasks, and support community integration.

The role includes Monday–Friday shifts with flexible hours, paid training (CPR/First Aid, safety protocols), and opportunities for professional growth within a values-driven IDEAL environment.

Qualifications

• Entry-level position; on-the-job training provided.
• Requires a high school diploma or GED.
• Basic housekeeping, nutrition, and safety knowledge.
• Strong interpersonal, detail-oriented, and dependable.
• Ability to learn and use EHR systems; reliable transportation with valid license and insurance.

Responsibilities

• Provide care in the client’s home and community.
• Assist with daily tasks: housekeeping, meal prep, cooking, and cleaning; personal care as needed.
• Transport clients to appointments and run errands as required.
• Help plan and organize client schedules.

As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you’ll play a critical role in carrying out that mission by helping people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) complete everyday living tasks and achieve their goals.

Job Details

Position details: Monday - Friday, various hours and shifts available

Location: Wilmington, NC (Ogden/Porter's Neck) and surrounding areas with local community travel

Your Role in Our Mission

• You will provide care in the home of the individual and the community they live in.
• Assist with everyday tasks such as housekeeping, meal preparation, cooking, and cleaning; personal care such as bathing and dressing, toiletry and changing diapers; as well as employment support.
• You may transport the client to appointments and run errands.
• Help plan and organize their schedule.
• Daily documentation and reporting in the electronic health system of record.

What We’re Looking For
