Job summary

New Communities, Inc. is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our Norway, ME residential program.

You will provide direct care to adults with intellectual disabilities and/or autism, model positive behavior, administer medications, assist with personal care, and promote independence in daily activities. This full-time role offers paid training, access to certifications, health and dental insurance, PTO, and a 403(b) retirement plan with company match.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• 18 years of age or older.
• Active driver’s license.
• Ability to communicate effectively with residents and coworkers whose primary language is English.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care to adults with intellectual disabilities and/or autism.
• Administer prescribed medications.
• Assist with personal care and daily living activities.
• Encourage independence and participate in recreational activities using company vehicles.

Job Type

Full‑time. Pay rate dependent on position, shift, certifications, and experience, ranging from $15.10 – $17.10/hr. Hiring immediately! Per diem positions available – work hours are not guaranteed and are scheduled on an as‑needed basis. This role is ideal for someone looking for flexibility rather than a set schedule.

Role

As a Direct Support Professional (DSP) at our residential program located in Norway, ME, you will provide direct care support to adults with intellectual disabilities and/or autism. Support consists of acting as a role model, administering medication, assistance with personal care, and inspiring clients to be as independent as possible, both at home and in the community. This opportunity includes attending and actively promoting recreational, social outings, and activities for our clients with New Communities company vehicles for client transportation.
