Job summary

Wellspring Lutheran Services – Bethesda Homes is seeking a Direct Support Professional for full-time opportunities on the Second or Third Shift in Michigan. The role provides direct support in a residential setting, helping residents achieve personal goals, participate in meaningful activities, and live with dignity and independence.

You’ll assist with daily routines, meals, and transportation as needed, while promoting respect and autonomy.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.
• No prior experience required; training provided.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support to individuals in a residential setting to help them achieve personal goals and participate in meaningful activities.
• Assist with daily routines, including personal care, meals, and transportation as needed while maintaining dignity and respect.
• Support individuals in building independence and making choices about their daily lives.
• Document observations and contribute to Individual Support Plans, tracking progress and celebrating achievements.
• Foster a safe, welcoming home environment and collaborate with team members to ensure high quality of life for residents.

As a Direct Support Professional, you’ll provide support to individuals in a residential setting, helping them achieve personal goals, participate in meaningful activities, and experience the highest possible quality of life. You’ll be an important part of their daily routines, celebrations, challenges, and successes.

What Your Impact Will Look Like

You’ll build meaningful relationships with the individuals you support, getting to know their strengths, interests, preferences, and goals.

You’ll help people develop independence and confidence by encouraging participation in daily activities and supporting them in ways that honor their abilities and choices.

You’ll assist with personal care, meal preparation, medication administration, appointments, and other daily routines while treating each person with dignity and respect.

You’ll help create opportunities for meaningful experiences through community outings, activities, hobbies, appointments, and social engagement.

You’ll contribute to Individual Support Plans by sharing observations, celebrating achievements, and helping identify opportunities for growth and success.

You’ll help create a safe, welcoming, and healthy home environment where individuals feel supported, valued, and connected.

Some days you’ll be helping someone learn a new skill, attend a favorite activity, or accomplish a personal goal. Other days you’ll be providing hands‑on support, sharing conversations over meals, accompanying someone to an appointment, or simply being a trusted and encouraging presence.
