Job summary

Scottsdale Training & Rehabilitation Services (STARS) seeks a Direct Support Professional for the Day Training Adult Program to foster a caring, positive image and improve lives of individuals with developmental and cognitive disabilities.

You will teach participants with various challenges, provide training in life and social skills, plan and accompany outings, and document progress for ISP/BTP goals, reporting to the Case Manager/Supervisor.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Two years experience with disabled youth/adults in vocational or rehab services.
• Bachelor's degree preferred (Education / Special Ed / Social Services).
• AZ driver's license with clean record and meet insurance requirements.
• Must pass fingerprint DES clearance and background screening.
• Reliable transportation required.

Responsibilities

• Teach participants in the DTA program individually or in groups.
• Provide life and social skills training to increase independence.
• Arrange outings and develop curriculum; accompany participants on outings.
• Maintain weekly case notes and daily objective sheets for ISP/BTP goals.
• Report goals, progress, and challenges to Case Manager/Supervisor.

Scottsdale Training & Rehabilitation Services (STARS) is seeking a Direct Support Professional to join the Day Training Adult Program. Incumbent will foster a caring positive image and serve to improve the lives of individuals with developmental and cognitive disabilities.

POSITION IN A NUTSHELL:

• Teach participants with various developmental/cognitive and /or physical challenges; individually or in groups; in the DTA program.
• Provide participants training in life and social skills to increase independence.
• Arrange outings and develop curriculum; accompany participants on outings.
• Maintain weekly case notes and daily objective sheets tracking ISP and/or BTP goals for participants.
• Report participants' goals, progress, and challenges to the Case Manager/Supervisor.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to details.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of behavior modification skills, developmental disabilities and of training/intervention strategies used for individuals with developmental, as well as other disabilities.
• Ability to maintain a positive attitude and collaborative working relationships with participants, staff, families and people from various funding sources.
• Strong technical skills with the ability to learn new programs quickly and independently.
• Above average proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; specifically, Word, Outlook, Excel.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

• High School Diploma. Two years' experience working with disabled youth/adults in vocational, rehabilitation or similar services. Bachelor's degree in Education, Special Ed., Social Services, Behavioral Health; preferred. OR any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
• Must have AZ driver's license, clear driving record and meet agency insurance requirements.
• Must meet DES requirements for fingerprint clearance.
• Must pass a criminal/background screening.
• Must have reliable transportation.
