Job summary

Scioto Trails in Chillicothe, Ohio is hiring a Direct Support Professional to provide direct services and supports to individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Paid training is offered, and duties include assisting with daily living, hygiene, meals, and workshop tasks.

Expected to collaborate with team members to ensure safe, respectful care and to promote increased independence and empowerment for the individuals served.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Must possess sincere desire to provide direct service and support to persons with developmental/intellectual disabilities.
• Ability to work as a team member to maintain consistency and quality in services.
• Ability to exchange support, constructive criticism, and ideas with other staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct services and supports to individuals with developmental/intellectual disabilities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and workshop tasks.
• Supervise, teach, and assist individuals to foster independence, choice, and empowerment.

Work Hours

• Monday-Friday 8am-4pm
• Monday-Friday 1pm-8pm

Must Possess all of the Following:

A sincere desire to provide direct service and support to persons with developmental/intellectual disables; ability to make sound judgments when given guidance and priorities; ability to work as a team member to maintain consistency and quality in services; ability to exchange support, constructive criticism, and ideas with other staff members.

Direct Support Professionals are responsible to provide direct services and supports to the individual with developmental/intellectual disabilities, including, but not limited to: assisting in maintaining a clean, safe living environment, personal hygiene, meal preparation and completion of various workshop tasks; and supervising, teaching, and assisting the individual in every aspect of their life, with the goals of fostering increased independence, choice and empowerment. Minimum Requirements:

• High School Diploma/GED
• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Valid driver's license
• Personal liability insurance (automobile)
• Good driving record (5 points or less on your MVR)
• Clear background check
