Job summary

Eden Autism Services is hiring Full-Time and Part-Time Direct Support Professionals (DSP) to support adults in our group homes and day programs in New Jersey. Training is provided and schedules are flexible to fit busy lives.

You’ll work with individuals with autism and other disabilities, building skills and providing compassionate care. As a DSP, you will assist with daily living activities, transportation, and safety, while documenting progress and communicating with families and supervisors

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Valid driver's license with record in good standing (5 points or less).
• 3 years of driving experience.
• Able to meet physical requirements: lift/move up to 50 lbs; sit/stand/bend/squat for extended periods.
• PCM certification and knowledge of safety strategies.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and data collection on Apple iPad.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety of participants at all times.
• Teach daily living skills (cooking, laundry, cleaning, hygiene).
• Support participants with employment skills and community outings.
• Assist with daily activities including shopping, leisure, and doctor visits.
• Transport participants to homes/day centers and community sites.
• Track progress and report to supervisors.
• Communicate with families, colleagues, and supervisors; complete required reports.

Eden offers a variety of schedules—our employees find this flexibility perfect for their busy lives!Presently the Day Program open positions are located in Hamilton, Plainsboro and West Windsor, NJ. This is subject to change periodically.IMPORTANT: Training 8 am - 4 pm Monday-Friday for 2 weeks in a row is mandatory for the successful applicant no matter which schedule you may be hired for with Eden Autism. Training dates will be discussed with you.General overview of Eden's schedules:Our day centers are located in Hamilton, Plainsboro, and West Windsor.The Day Program schedule is Monday-Friday 8am – 4pm.As a DSP for Eden, your primary responsibilities will include:Ensuring the safety of those we support at all times.Teaching individuals we support basic life skills, such as cooking, laundry and cleaning, and personal hygiene.
