Job summary

Catholic Charities of Baltimore is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide compassionate, person-centered care and build trusted relationships with adults with developmental disabilities in the Timonium area.

The DSP will work Saturdays and Sundays 7 AM to 7 PM, assisting with daily living activities, preparing meals, promoting independence, and supporting meaningful community engagement within a trauma-informed, supportive setting.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Valid driver’s license with at least 2 years of driving experience and no more than 3 points.
• Comfortable driving agency vehicles and assisting people who use wheelchairs.
• Able to lift up to 75 pounds, stand for long periods, and provide physical assistance when needed.
• Completion of Medication Technician Training Program (or willingness to complete).

Responsibilities

• Support with daily routines such as bathing, dressing, and personal care in a way that promotes dignity, independence, and choice.
• Support people in preparing meals of their choice, encouraging healthy eating habits, and maintaining a clean and comfortable kitchen environment—while promoting independence and personal preferences.
• Be patient and respectful in action and speaking.
• Advocate for each person’s rights and help build their confidence and sense of self.
• Keep clear, respectful records to ensure continuity of care and support.
