Job summary

Dungarvin is seeking a Direct Support Professional to provide compassionate, person-centered care in Portland-area residential homes. The role is full-time, day shift, with the DSP supporting residents with daily living activities, mobility, meals, and transportation while promoting independence and dignity.

The ideal candidate has 1+ years of DSP experience, valid driver’s license, flexibility, and strong communication.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of DSP/Caregiving experience required.
• Must have a valid drivers license and a vehicle.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule.
• Willing to learn different supports, from medical to behavioral.
• Good communication and independence.
• 18 years of age or older.
• Able to attend two weeks of paid orientation and training.

Responsibilities

• Enrich and support residents' lives while maintaining a safe and healthy environment.
• Provide companionship and personalized care with respect and dignity while encouraging independence and self-care.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living, including dressing, bathing, grooming, toileting, and eating.
• Prepare meals and snacks; may include grocery shopping.
• Perform housekeeping and laundry duties.
• Provide mobility and transfer assistance, which may include using mechanical lift devices.
• Assist with transportation needs for community outings, appointments, and errands.
• Implement positive behavior supports and de-escalating challenging behaviors when needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Description

What You Get to Do:

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) / Caregiver Float provides direct care for individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD) within residential group homes in the Portland Metro Area. This is a full time, permanent position.Schedule for shifts subjected to change based on needs of programs, however schedulesare given two weeks in advance

This position requires a dependable candidate who is flexible in their schedule, works well independently, and has exceptional communication and decision-making skills.Float DSPs areadaptable and will have the necessary skill set to be able to work at multiple homes.

Qualifications

• Must havevalid driver's license & vehicle to travel between programs and provide transportation to clients
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule
• Must be able and willing to learn different supports, from medical to behavioral
• Have a passion to help others through person-centered care

• Dependable, adaptable, and flexible
• Goodcommunication is key in this role. You’ll rely on your reading, writing, andcommunication skills to document care, follow support plans, and collaborate with both internal and external team members.
• Must be able to provide references
• 18 years of age or older
• Able to attend two weeks of PAID in-house orientation and training

Successful candidates will be required to meet all Oregon State Department of Human Services requirements
