Job summary

PathPoint in Bakersfield, CA is hiring part-time Direct Support Professionals (DSP) for its Integrated Work program. You will lead both virtual and in-person groups at outdoor worksites, helping adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities develop life and vocational skills.

The schedule is Monday-Friday, 8:15am-2:30pm, totaling about 28.75 hours per week. Compensation starts at $22.75/hour, with bilingual pay at $23.05/hour; pay range is $21.61-$23.89.

Qualifications

• Patience, compassion, and the ability to interact with individuals with disabilities, their family members, and others in a positive and constructive manner.
• Experience with individuals with disabilities is desirable but not required; we welcome all applicants.
• Must have a valid California driver's license with a satisfactory driving record, 5 years driving experience.
• Culturally aware and able to collaborate across cultures, avoiding biased assumptions.
• High school diploma or GED is required.

Responsibilities

• Teach social/life skills to help individuals lead more independent lives (communication, mobility, money management, housing, transit).
• Teach vocational skills to prepare for entry-level employment.
• Supervise individuals during instruction and community outings.
• Build friendly rapport and model work habits, communication, and social skills.
• Prepare weekly schedules, monthly training projections, and written progress reports.

PathPoint is excited to welcome part-time Direct Support Professionals (DSP) to join our Integrated Work program team in Bakersfield, CA. This is an employment training program that provides skills development and support for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities through a mix of work/volunteer sites, in-person classes, and virtual meetings. As a DSP, you will lead both virtual and in-person groups at outdoor worksites. This is truly a job where no two days are the same, and you will make a difference every single day.

PathPoint is a nonprofit dedicated to helping people flourish. We partner with children, adults, and families to foster hope, build life skills, access support systems, and form meaningful relationships. We serve communities across Kern, Los Angeles, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura counties.

Schedule:

Monday-Friday 8:15am-2:30pm (Subject to change around program hours), 28.75 hours per week.

Compensation:

This is an hourly, non-exempt position starting at $22.75 per hour. If you are bilingual (Spanish or ASL), the starting wage is $23.05 per hour. The pay range for this position is $21.61-$23.89. The pay range is subject to change based on a variety of factors.

What You'll Do:

• Teach individuals vocational skills to help prepare them for entry-level employment.
• Supervise individuals during hours of instruction and on community outings and volunteering.
• Build friendly and professional rapport with individuals and act as a positive role model for work habits, communication skills, and social skills.
• Prepare weekly schedules, monthly training projections, and written progress reports.

What We're Looking For:

• Patience, compassion, and the ability to interact with individuals with disabilities, their family members, and others in a positive and constructive manner.
• Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities, either professionally or personally, is desirable but not required. If you are interested in this opportunity but do not have directly relevant experience, we'd still love to hear from you!
• Must have a valid California driver's license with a satisfactory driving record, 5 years of driving experience, and be eligible for coverage on PathPoint's auto insurance policy.
