PathPoint is hiring full-time Direct Support Professionals for the Independent Living Services team in Santa Maria, CA. You will teach independent living skills to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their homes, covering tasks from cooking to budgeting and scheduling medical appointments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience with people with disabilities preferred but not required.
• Customer service experience is a plus!
• Must have a valid California driver's license with a satisfactory driving record, 5 years of driving experience, and be eligible for coverage on PathPoint's auto insurance policy.

Responsibilities

• Teach independent living skills in home settings (cooking, laundry, budgeting, scheduling appointments).
• Assist individuals with benefits and healthcare, liaise with Social Security, Housing Authority, rental and utility providers.
• Escort to medical appointments and coordinate transportation as needed.
• Prepare meals and snacks with individuals.
• Maintain daily logs and progress notes.
• Participate in team meetings to discuss individual's progress.

We are currently accepting applications for full-time Direct Support Professionals to join our Independent Living Services team in Santa Maria, CA. In this role, you'll teach independent living skills to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their homes. This could include cooking and grocery shopping, healthy living and exercise, budgeting and money management, scheduling medical appointments and coordinating benefits, or other skills depending on the individual's personal goals.

Schedule:

Full-time, 35-40 hours per week, with a flexible schedule that you can set yourself!

Compensation:

$22.75 per hour.

What You'll Do:

• Teach a variety of household skills, including cooking, laundry, paying bills, budgeting, emergency preparedness, shopping, and hygiene.
• Assist individuals with their benefits and healthcare, including applying for new benefits or services. Serve as liaison between individuals and Social Security, Housing Authority, rental agencies, utility companies, etc.
• Assist individuals in scheduling medical appointments and escort to appointments as needed.
• Prepare meals and snacks with individuals.
• Actively participate in meetings and discussions regarding individual's progress.
• Maintain daily logs and data reports.

What We're Looking For:

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Prior experience with people with disabilities, either professionally or personally, is preferred but not required; if you are interested in this job but do not have directly relevant experience, we'd still love to hear from you!
• Customer service experience is a plus!
• Positivity and patience.
