Job summary

Passionate Hearts Supportive Services in Virginia Beach, VA is seeking a compassionate Direct Support Professional to provide personalized care and support to individuals with disabilities within a community setting.

You will assist with daily living, follow individualized support plans, transport clients, and help maintain independence while fostering dignity and self-advocacy. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Previous experience in direct support, caregiving, or human services preferred.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care and daily living support to individuals with IDD.
• Assist clients with personal hygiene, grooming, meals, and other ADLs.
• Implement ISPs and document progress accurately.
• Transport and accompany clients to appointments, outings, and activities.
• Administer medications and monitor health conditions as directed.
• Foster independence, dignity, and self-advocacy in individuals served.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, families, and care team members

• Assist clients with personal hygiene, grooming, meal preparation, and other activities of daily living (ADLs)
• Implement individualized support plans (ISPs) and document progress accurately
• Transport and accompany clients to appointments, community outings, and recreational activities
• Administer medications and monitor health conditions as directed
• Foster independence, dignity, and self-advocacy in all individuals served
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, families, and care team members

Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED required
• Previous experience in direct support, caregiving, or human services preferred
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
• CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
• Strong interpersonal skills with a patient, empathetic, and person-centered approach
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
