Job summary

Heart of Joy LLC in Virginia Beach, VA is seeking a compassionate Direct Support Professional to join our care team. You will provide personalized assistance to individuals with disabilities, supporting daily living activities and promoting independence.

The position offers flexible hours: a few hours during the week, weekend shifts, and occasional holiday coverage. You will collaborate with supervisors, families, and the care team to implement support plans.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Previous experience in direct support, caregiving, or human services preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
• CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Strong communication, patience, and problem-solving skills.
• Genuine compassion and commitment to person-centered care.

• Assist clients with personal hygiene, grooming, meal preparation, and household tasks.
• Implement ISPs and document progress accurately.
• Transport and accompany clients to appointments, community outings, and activities.

• Foster independence, dignity, and inclusion for all individuals served.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, families, and care team members.
