Job summary

STAR, Inc. is seeking Direct Support Professionals to help adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities build skills and independence in Norwalk, CT.

As a DSP, you will support daily living activities, meals, personal care, and community participation, while fostering a positive, respectful environment. HS diploma and a valid driver’s license are preferred, and prior experience is welcome but not required.

STAR, Inc. is seeking dependable, compassionate individuals to join our team as Direct Support Professionals (DSPs). In this role, you will support adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities as they build skills, participate in their communities, and pursue greater independence.

What Does a DSP Do?

Every day can look different for a Direct Support Professional.

Your Responsibilities May Include

• Supporting individuals with daily living activities and personal care needs
• Helping prepare meals and encouraging healthy routines
• Assisting with feeding when necessary
• Teaching and reinforcing practical life skills
• Supporting participation in recreational, social, and community activities
• Encouraging individuals to make choices and develop greater independence
• Providing support during appointments, outings, and other activities
• Creating a positive, respectful, and welcoming environment

Experience working with individuals with developmental or intellectual disabilities is welcome, but the right attitude and willingness to learn are just as important.
