The Institutes Of Applied Human Dyn (IAHD) is seeking an entry-level Direct Support professional to assist residents in a Bronx setting. You will help with daily living activities, meals, hygiene, and mobility while ensuring a welcoming home-like atmosphere.

Responsibilities include documenting services, supporting skill development, and safe transport to activities. A driver’s license is preferred, and work may be full-time or part-time in a flexible schedule.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED acceptable for residential work.
• Prior Direct Support or nursing assistant experience is a plus.
• Valid driver’s license preferred.
• Ability to document services on a tablet or computer.

• Respond quickly to emergencies per safety plans.
• Provide first-aid according to guidelines and history.

• Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication.
• Attend monthly staff meetings and trainings.

What You’ll Do:

• Support Daily Living: Assist individuals with daily living skills, including personal hygiene, food preparation, housekeeping, laundry, and shopping.
• Home-Like Atmosphere: Ensure the residential environment is welcoming and personalized, helping create a comfortable, home-like setting for the individuals we support.
• Encourage Skill Development: Provide support to help individuals develop skills in hobbies, studies, recreation, communication, and social activities.
• Respond to Emergencies: Quickly respond to emergencies and manage situations according to oversight and safety plan requirements.
• Administer First-Aid: Provide appropriate first-aid based on symptoms and medical history, following established guidelines and accepted first-aid practices.
• Provide Transportation: Safely transport individuals to and from activities, including providing transportation to day program, shopping, doctor’s appointments, and recreational outings in agency vehicles.
• Record Keeping: Prepare clear and concise written reports, including Incident Reports, Residents’ Progress Notes, and other required documentation. Use of eVero is a must.
• Effective Communication: Demonstrate strong interpersonal and professional communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Staff Meetings & Training: Attend monthly staff meetings, in-service training, and any additional required meetings.

Qualifications

Educational Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED preferred not required for Residential setting

Experience & Skills

• Prior experience as a Direct Support Professional, Nursing Assistant, or Patient Care Assistant is a plus
• Driver’s License: A valid driver’s license is preferred
• Highly organized, able to work under pressure, multi-task, and maintain professionalism at all times
• Must be to document services on a tablet, I-Phone or Computer

Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed to meet the operational needs of the residence
