Job summary

The Institutes Of Applied Human Dyn in New York is seeking an Experienced Residence Supervisor to oversee daily operations at Bronx area residences. You will step in during the Residence Manager's absence to ensure safety and compliance.

Responsibilities include supervising DSPs, documenting incidents, managing schedules, administering medications, coordinating with clinical staff, and training policy adherence.

Qualifications

  • 1–2 years of supervisory or direct care experience with individuals with developmental disabilities
  • Must maintain AMAP Certification and pass CPR/SCIP trainings
  • Knowledge of OPWDD regulations and agency procedures
  • Valid NY State Driver’s License and ability to drive a 15-passenger van
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet residence needs

Responsibilities

  • Attend to residence duties in the absence of the Residence Manager to ensure safety and compliance
  • Orient, supervise, and evaluate DSPs and ensure proper procedures
  • Follow 624 incident reporting procedures and document properly
  • Schedule staff, verify time worked, and review timesheets/overtime
  • Accompany individuals to appointments and teach daily living skills with DSP support
  • Maintain residence upkeep and ensure functioning of facilities and appliances
  • Administer and verify medication distribution with AMAP ledgers
  • Document activities, incidents, and required reports; maintain daily logs
  • Conduct fire drills and emergency evacuations for staff and individuals
  • Attend trainings and work with clinical staff to provide care
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Residence Manager

What You’ll Do:
  • Assume responsibility for the residence in the absence of the Residence Manager, ensuring safety and compliance.
  • Assist in orienting, supervising, and evaluating Direct Support Professionals (DSPs), ensuring they follow proper procedures.
  • Follow appropriate 624 procedures for reporting incidents and ensure proper documentation.
  • Schedule staff coverage, verify time worked, and review time sheets and overtime records.
  • Accompany individuals on appointments and activities, helping teach daily living skills and assisting DSPs in doing the same.
  • Assist with the upkeep of the residence and ensure the proper functioning of the physical plant, furnishings, and appliances.
  • Administer and verify the distribution of medication, maintaining accurate medication records (AMAP ledgers).
  • Ensure proper documentation of activities, incidents, and other required reports, including daily logs, activity sheets, and trip evaluations.
  • Conduct fire drills and emergency evacuation procedures, ensuring that both staff and individuals are prepared for emergencies.
  • Attend staff meetings, in-service training, and required certification programs.
  • Work alongside clinical support staff (nurses, therapists, psychologists) to provide individualized care and support.
  • May be assigned other tasks and duties by the Residence Manager that is reasonably related to their job responsibilities.
Qualifications Educational Requirements
  • Associate Degree (preferred)
  • High School Diploma or GED required
Experience & Skills:
  • 1-2 years of experience in a supervisory or direct care role, working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferably in a residential or health related setting preferred
  • Strong leadership, communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Must maintain AMAP Certification for administering medication and be able to pass all required training (CPR, SCIP, etc.)
  • Knowledge of OPWDD regulations, abuse and neglect policies, and agency procedures
  • Valid NY State Driver’s License (6 points or less) and the ability to drive a 15-passenger van
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed to meet the operational needs of the residence
