Job summary

Volunteers of America Mid-States in Nashville, TN is seeking a Direct Support Professional to provide direct care, training, and assistance to individuals in daily living, self-care, recreation, skill development, and work readiness. You will help protect and uphold the rights of the people you support.

You will interact in a therapeutic way, encourage positive behavior, provide transportation, and support participation in community activities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred (or equivalent skills and experience).
• Ability to read, write, and understand English.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the comfort and safety of individuals served, meeting their medical, nutritional, and personal care needs.
• Interact in a supportive and therapeutic way, using effective methods to encourage positive behavior.
• Provide transportation and assist individuals in participating in community and social activities.
• Help with general housekeeping, meal preparation, shopping, and laundry.
• Keep the home clean and well-maintained through regular cleaning tasks.
• Attend all required training sessions and staff meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
