Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Always ensure the health and safety of members.
• Provide instructional support while assisting members with their yearly service agreement and encourage independence.
• Promote community connections and create opportunities for new experiences for members.
• Complete required paperwork promptly (emails, daily notes, mileage logs, timecards, progress notes, incident reports).
• Transport members in the community, mileage reimbursed.
• Be a positive role model with advocacy for member rights and choice.
• Attend and participate in required meetings (staff, ISA).
• Support individuals of all abilities, including personal care needs and behavioral accommodations.
• Exposure to bodily fluids; universal precautions used.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Attendance is an essential function of this role.

Summary

Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) are part of a team who provide community-based support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This is done one-on-one or part of a group. The support provided promotes overall community involvement and independence for the individuals we support. The support is tailored to the goals of each individual based on their individual service agreement. Activities may include but are not limited to yoga, pottery, cooking, music, volunteering, and physical fitness.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Always ensure the health and safety of members.
• Provide instructional support while assisting members with the implementation of their yearly individual service agreement while encouraging independence.
• Promote quality community connections for members while seeking and developing opportunities for new experiences and connections.
• Timely completion of all required paperwork (i.e.: email correspondence, daily notes, mileage logs, timecards, progress notes and incident reports).
• Provide transportation for members in the community, often using your own personal vehicle (mileage in reimbursed).
• Be a positive role model with strong advocacy toward member rights and choice.
• Attend and participate in all required meetings (i.e. staff meetings, ISA meetings).
• Support individuals of all abilities including those with personal care needs and behavioral accommodations. DSPs will be trained accordingly and should have a firm understanding of the requirements of the member(s) they are supporting.
• Exposure to bodily fluids noting that Great Bay Services uses universal precautions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Attendance is an essential function of this role

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Completion of TB Test
• Prior experience working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities preferred
• Certified DSPs preferred; training will be provided if needed
• First Aid and CPR certified; training will be provided if needed
• He-M 1201 Administration of Medications in Developmental Services Programs training will be provided to those candidates without it
• Valid Driver’s License with a legally registered & inspected vehicle
• Carry mandatory auto insurance of no less than 100K/300K
• Basic computer skills

Must pass routine background checks including criminal, motor vehicle, DHHS, and others required to comply with Medicaid funding

Compensation details: 18-18 Hourly Wage
