Job summary

New Horizons in Autism, Inc. (NHIA) is seeking a Direct Support Professional to assist adults with autism in a residential home. You will provide compassionate care, supervision, and support to help residents build independence, confidence, and life skills while ensuring health, safety and well-being.

Starting pay is $19.00 per hour. NHIA offers extensive hands-on training, paid time off, tuition discounts, 401(k) with company match, and other benefits, with opportunities for career growth

Qualifications

• Must be compassionate, dependable, and able to communicate clearly.
• Ability to interact professionally with individuals with autism.
• Must complete all pre-employment requirements (CR, CARI, DMV, drug screen, exam, PPD).

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care and supervision in a residential home.
• Assist with personal care and daily living activities.
• Administer and document medications.
• Teach and reinforce independent living skills.
• Provide transportation to appointments and community activities.
• Complete required documentation accurately.
• Support day-to-day operation of the residence.

About the Role

As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you'll play a vital role in supporting adults with autism in a residential home setting. Every day is an opportunity to make a positive impact by helping residents build independence, confidence, and life skills while ensuring their health, safety, and well-being.

Responsibilities

• Providing direct care and supervision in a residential home
• Assisting with personal care and daily living activities
• Administering and documenting medications
• Teaching and reinforcing independent living and life skills
• Providing transportation to appointments and community activities
• Completing required documentation accurately and professionally
• Supporting the overall day-to-day operation of the residence

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or higher degree (diploma or transcripts required)
• Must be at least 20 years of age
• Valid, non‑probationary New Jersey driver's license
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
• Ability to interact professionally and respectfully with individuals with autism
• Must successfully complete all pre‑employment requirements, including:
  • Central Registry
  • CARI
  • DMV Check
  • Drug Screening
  • Physical Examination
  • PPD Testing

Starting Pay: $19.00 per hour
