Job summary

A community support organization located in Cheswick is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to empower individuals with disabilities. This role supports clients in daily living activities and promotes their independence. Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma, strong communication skills, and a compassionate demeanor. Opportunities exist for professional development within a caring and supportive work environment. This full-time position requires a valid driver's license and participation in all onboarding requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; further education in a related field is a plus.
• Previous experience in direct support, caregiving, or a related field preferred.
• Compassionate and patient demeanor with a genuine desire to help others.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• CPR and First Aid certification (or willing to obtain).

We are currently seeking motivated and caring individuals to join us as per diem Direct Support Professionals.

Community Passages is a community-based residential program designed to provide a homelike environment for individuals with developmental disabilities and dual diagnoses, many of whom present significantly challenging behaviors and most of whom previously resided at state centers and hospitals. Residents develop life skills, increase their self-esteem, and are empowered to make choices for themselves. Person-centered planning, self-determination, and personalization foster individualized programs in an open and safe environment that encourages consumer empowerment and personal growth.

Responsibilities

• Support clients in daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and household management.
• Foster a positive and respectful relationship with clients while promoting their independence and personal choices.
• Assist clients in developing skills for everyday living and participate in social and recreational activities.
• Document client progress and maintain accurate records of care and support provided.
• Communicate effectively with clients, families, and other team members to ensure coordinated care.

• Previous experience in direct support, caregiving, or a related field preferred.
