Apis Services, Inc. is hiring a Direct Support Professional (DSP) in Ambler, PA. The role provides hands-on support to individuals with developmental disabilities in community and residential settings.
The DSP helps with daily living activities, life skills, transportation, and social integration. Paid training, medication administration certification, and benefits are provided as part of a mission-driven organization.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Valid driver\'s license with acceptable driving record.
- Ability to read, write, and document effectively in English.
- Basic computer proficiency, including email, electronic documentation, and timekeeping systems.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- CPR, First Aid, medication administration trainings required.
Responsibilities
- Assist individuals with activities of daily living, including personal care, meal preparation, housekeeping, and community participation.
- Support individuals in developing life skills, independence, and self-confidence.
- Foster meaningful community connections and social relationships.
- Provide supervision, guidance, and support in residential and community settings.
- Implement ISP and behavioral support strategies as directed.
- Transport individuals to medical appointments, community activities, and day programs.
- Monitor and respond to crisis situations per policies.
- Administer medications following certification and guidelines.
- Complete required documentation accurately and timely.

As a Direct Support Professional, you will:
- Assist individuals with activities of daily living, including personal care, meal preparation, housekeeping, and community participation
- Support individuals in developing life skills, independence, and self-confidence
- Foster meaningful community connections and social relationships
- Provide supervision, guidance, and support in residential and community settings
- Implement Individual Support Plans (ISP) and behavioral support strategies as directed
- Transport individuals to medical appointments, community activities, day programs, religious services, and family visits
- Monitor and respond appropriately to crisis situations in accordance with agency policies and procedures
- Administer medications following certification and agency guidelines
- Complete required documentation accurately and timely, including daily logs, medication records, incident reports, and goal tracking documentation
- Maintain a safe, supportive, and trauma-informed environment
- Attend required trainings, staff meetings, and competency-based learning activities
- Collaborate with supervisors and clinical staff to ensure individual needs and goals are met
- Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned

- Previous experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care practices
- Experience working in behavioral health, residential, or community-based services
- Full-Time- multiple schedule options available
- Schedule flexibility required
- Hours may vary based on program and individual needs
- Schedule subject to change to meet business needs
- Participation in emergency and on-call situations may be required
- Ability to lift, transfer, and assist individuals as needed
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform household and community-based activities
- Ability to safely transport individuals when required
- Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
