Job summary

Addus HomeCare is seeking an in-home Direct Support Professional to assist seniors and people with disabilities in Blountville, TN. This entry-level role offers flexible hours and opportunities to learn the fundamentals of quality home care.

You will follow care plans, assist with personal care and daily tasks, and help transport members to appointments. Strong communication and reliability are essential for success.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Pass a criminal background check.
• Reliable transportation with valid license and proof of insurance.

Responsibilities

• Follow a care plan for the member and report on completed tasks.
• Assist with personal care (bathing, dressing, etc.).
• Support routine house cleaning, laundry, and meal preparation.
• Transport members to appointments and errands.
• Assist with self-administration of medications (no dosing).
• Observe and report changes in member's condition.

DSP Responsibilities

• Follow a care plan for the member and report on completed tasks.
• Assist people with personal care (bathing, dressing, etc.)
• Support routine house cleaning, laundry, and assist with meal preparation.
• Transport members to appointments, daily errands, and other locations as necessary.
• Assist member with the self-administration of medications (no administering or measuring)
• Observe and report any changes in member's condition.

DSP Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED, and one year of in-home care services experience
• Able to pass a criminal background check.
• Reliable transportation, required for member transportation. A valid driver’s license and proof of insurance is required.
• Ability to work with limited supervision and follow written/verbal instructions.
• Good communication skills
• Reliable, energetic, self-motivated, and well-organized
• Comfortable using an electronic device.
