Job summary

The State of South Carolina is hiring a Direct Support Professional at the Coastal Regional Center in Summerville to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The role involves transporting residents, providing care, and enforcing safety policies under supervision.

Position offers a $1,000 sign-on bonus and a shift differential of up to $3.50/hour for applicable shifts, with benefits under the BHDD Office of IDD.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to perform basic administrative tasks.
• Knowledge of safety practices in care settings.
• Ability to communicate clearly with individuals and staff.
• Ability to use a computer for basic tasks.
• Physical ability to bend, stoop, lift, push, pull, reach and walk.

Responsibilities

• Transport residents on and off campus to classrooms and medical appointments.
• Perform light maintenance and safety checks on vehicles.
• Follow agency policies and report significant events or suspected abuse.
• Provide DSP duties including assisting consumers and transporting to events as needed.
