Job summary

Dungarvin is seeking a Direct Support Professional to provide compassionate, person-centered care in Portland-area residential homes. The role is full-time, day shift, with the DSP supporting residents with daily living activities, mobility, meals, and transportation while promoting independence and dignity.

The ideal candidate has 1+ years of DSP experience, valid driver’s license, flexibility, and strong communication.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of DSP/Caregiving experience required.
• Must have a valid drivers license and a vehicle.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule.
• Willing to learn different supports, from medical to behavioral.
• Good communication and independence.
• 18 years of age or older.
• Able to attend two weeks of paid orientation and training.

Responsibilities

• Enrich and support residents' lives while maintaining a safe and healthy environment.
• Provide companionship and personalized care with respect and dignity while encouraging independence and self-care.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living, including dressing, bathing, grooming, toileting, and eating.
• Prepare meals and snacks; may include grocery shopping.
• Perform housekeeping and laundry duties.
• Provide mobility and transfer assistance, which may include using mechanical lift devices.
• Assist with transportation needs for community outings, appointments, and errands.
• Implement positive behavior supports and de-escalating challenging behaviors when needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
