The Arc Eastern Connecticut in Colchester, CT is seeking a Direct Support Professional to empower individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. You will deliver personal care, recreation, daily living skills, and health support while ensuring safety and dignity for participants.

Responsibilities include administering medications, documenting progress, and assisting with transportation and meals.

Qualifications

• Prior experience with people who have developmental and physical disabilities preferred.
• Must be able to mentor and assist people in life skills including recreation, independence, communication, and health.
• Applicants must possess basic computer aptitude and be able to speak/write in English.

Responsabilités

• Deliver training, support, and assistance in personal care, recreation, daily living, social skills, health needs, and rights.
• Assist in designing and monitoring individualized supports plans.
• Accurately administer prescribed medications as ordered by physicians.
• Complete required documentation including program data, incident reports, daily logs, progress notes, and health records.
• Ensure participants health and safety, including CPR, First Aid, Heimlich, and emergency evacuations.
• Provide transportation to activities.
• Prepare meals following published menus.
• Mentor and assist participants in life skills.
