Job summary

Wearebcs in Brooklyn, NY is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) for an IRA setting. This full-time role involves on-site support in a 24/7 residential program, assisting individuals with life skills, community activities, and health monitoring.

The DSP will supervise four individuals, maintain documentation, and accompany clients to appointments while ensuring safety and quality of care. NY state wage is $17.00–$18.00 per hour, with required certifications and valid driver’s license

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required; Associates or bachelor's preferred in Human services, psychology or sociology.
• At least one year of experience working with individuals in a residential setting.
• AMAP certification within 3 months of hire.
• CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to become certified within 3 months of hire.
• Valid Clean Driver License a plus.
• Bilingual Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review daily log book and input all activities throughout shift into log book.
• Provide supervision to assigned individuals.
• Teach and assist in the maintenance, upkeep and housekeeping of the residence.
• Accompany clients to medical appointments.
• Follow health care treatment orders and administer medication.
• Teach and reinforce fire and safety procedures.
• Utilize agency vehicle to transport individuals for community outings.
• Provide daily ADL training such as cooking, shopping, cleaning etc.
• Ensure all program goals are completed as written.
• Provide and supervise daily recreational activities as needed.
• Maintain contact with families as necessary.
• Other tasks as assigned.
