Job summary

Volunteers of America Chesapeake & Carolinas in Arlington, VA seeks a Direct Support Professional to assist people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in daily living, using a person-centered approach. Under supervision, you will support learning daily living skills, safety, and community participation, and document outcomes in the electronic case management system.

Responsibilities

• Provides necessary supports as identified by the Person-Centered Planning Team.
• Teaches, supports and performs household tasks, such as cleaning and meal prep.
• Assists people to develop skills in daily living following the PCP.
• Monitors medication administration and assists with taking medications.
• Plans, coordinates and participates in social activities with people.
• Documents activities and behaviors in the electronic case management system.
• Transports people to appointments, grocery shopping, or events.
• Ensures safety and compliance with policies and procedures.
• Attends staff meetings and trainings as required.
