Job summary

Washington State Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) is hiring Direct Support Professionals in Kent, WA to assist adults with developmental disabilities to live full, empowered lives in their homes. You may perform cooking, personal care, household tasks, transportation, and support for health and daily living skills.

Paid training and comprehensive benefits are included. Positions include Day Shift (7:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.) and On-Call roles, with potential progression from Attendant

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required, plus one year of experience with people with developmental disabilities in health settings.
• In-training option available with paid training to gain necessary experience.
• Starting hourly rate depends on education and experience.
• Ability to work with adults in home and community settings.

Responsibilities

• Coach, teach, and mentor people with intellectual disabilities
• Assist and train clients with all areas of daily living skills
• Implement Individual Support Plan programs, plans, and services
• Transport and accompany clients to appointments or community activities
• Form relationships with people
• Keep the resident's home safe and clean
• Review, collect, and record participant information and report information vital to homemanagement
• Utilize an electronic data system to maintain client records and other reports
