Job summary

State of Washington Dept. of Social and Health Services invites applicants for the Direct Support Professional/Attendant Counselor 2 at Yakima Valley School.

The role assists adults with developmental disabilities in a residential setting, providing care and participating in therapeutic activities both on and off campus. The position operates 1:45 PM–10:15 PM Tue–Sat with potential 5% premium pay for on-site work three days weekly and shift differentials for evenings and nights.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and one year of experience working with people with developmental disabilities in mental health facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or residential settings.
• Active CNA/NAC/NAR license is required for eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Coach, teach, and mentor people with intellectual disabilities.
• Assist and train clients with daily living skills.
• Implement Individual Support Plan programs, plans, and services.
• Transport and accompany clients to appointments or activities in the community.
• Form relationships with people.
• Keep the resident's living area safe and clean.
• Record participant information and report essential home-management data.
• Use an electronic data system to maintain client records and reports.

Education
