Within the Observation Unit, the leader will oversee a fast-moving acute care observation setting serving patients who require focused assessment, treatment, and disposition planning. The scope combines leadership of observation services with nursing operations and staff oversight, multidisciplinary patient flow coordination, physician partnership, workflow optimization, and resource management. The Observation RN Manager will have the authority to strengthen clinical practice, advance quality and patient experience priorities, and align daily performance with broader hospital objectives.

Reporting to senior nursing leadership, the Direct Observation Nurse Manager will receive executive support while maintaining ownership of staffing, performance management, staff development, regulatory readiness, patient care standards, and operational outcomes. Close relationships with hospitalists, emergency care partners, case management, nursing leaders, and ancillary departments will be central to success. The position offers high leadership visibility and a credible platform to influence throughput, interdisciplinary accountability, and continuous improvement.
