Job summary

Safariland, LLC is seeking an FGA Operator at the Los Alamos site to perform gas analysis, sampling, and filter changes. The role includes generating batch data reports and ensuring instruments and procedures are kept up to date.

The position requires high attention to detail, strict procedural compliance, and the ability to work with radiological work that may require respirators. DOE site experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • High attention to detail and accuracy in all paperwork and data.
  • Ability to follow procedures verbatim and stay compliant with safety rules.
  • Familiarity with lab equipment, processes and routine calibrations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for team work and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct sampling and filter change-out on waste containers.
  • Analyze headspace gas samples on Agilent GC/MS and maintain instrument readiness.
  • Generate batch data reports (BDRs) and serve as independent technical reviewer.
  • Daily verification of procedures, documents, and measuring/testing equipment.
  • Support maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of instruments, including calibrations.

Position Type: Non-Exempt

Position Summary:

Flammable Gas Analysis (FGA) Operator ensures the program is running correctly and on goal. Gas Generation Testing (GGT) Operator - Perform duties assigned from running samples, independent technical review process and submitting records. Filter Change-Out Operator - Perform duties assigned for changing filters, reviewing filter change out forms and submitting to records. Maintain instruments to support operations. Preferred: Knowledge of basic chemistry protocols; ability to qualify for Homeland Security Credentials or "Q" Clearance.

Job Description:
Essential Job Functions (Listing most important First)
  • Ensure NFT remains a valuable asset to the customer by strong performance and appropriate communication via following the chain of command with NFT and Host site/CCP.
  • Conduct sampling and filter change-out on waste containers.
  • Analyze headspace gas samples on Agilent GC/MS
  • Generate batch data reports (BDR's) that require a review of the BDR as an independent technical reviewer (ITR) in an accurate, precise, and timely manner.
  • Daily verification of all procedures, documents, and M&TE (measuring and test equipment).
  • Support maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of instruments, including calibrations.
  • Keep training up to date.
  • Support other sites as requested.
Essential Job Requirements:
  • Attention to detail while performing all work functions, especially BDR's and all paperwork.
  • Ability to be procedural compliant, including following procedures verbatim.
  • Knowledge of equipment and processes.
  • Possess problem solving, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • When applicable, ability to perform radiological work that requires use of a respirator.
  • Strong team mentality with dependability (punctual and minimal absences).
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED. Prefer Chemist, Math, Engineering degree and/or experience.
  • Department of Energy (DOE) experience preferred.
  • Required Host site and procedural training, including any required certifications.
