Job summary

Classic Gears & Machining in Kaukauna, WI, is seeking an experienced CNC Lathe Machinist for 1st or 2nd shift. You will program, set up, and operate CNC lathe equipment to produce precision components meeting customer specs, with emphasis on accuracy and quality.

The role requires blueprints literacy, tool selection, and thorough inspection using precision gauges. A collaborative team environment and overtime as necessary support on-time delivery.

Qualifications

• Three to five years of CNC machining experience, preferably operating and setting up CNC lathes.
• Experience programming and setting up CNC equipment.
• Ability to read blueprints, engineering drawings, and manufacturing documentation.
• Proficiency using precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, indicators, and gauges.
• Strong math, mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Program, set up, and operate CNC lathe equipment to produce precision-machined parts.
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, job travelers, and manufacturing specifications.
• Select tooling, establish machine setups, and determine efficient machining processes.
• Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections using precision measuring equipment.
• Monitor machine performance and adjust as necessary to maintain dimensional accuracy and quality.
• Troubleshoot machining issues and recommend improvements to increase efficiency and reduce scrap.
• Collaborate with fellow machinists and production to support safety, quality, productivity, and continuous improvement.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Work overtime as needed to support delivery schedules.

Behm Consulting is assisting Classic Gears & Machining in the search for an experienced CNC Lathe Machinist to join the team. Opportunities are available on both 1st and 2nd Shift.

*2nd Shift Premium = 10% of hourly rate

Position Summary

As a CNC Lathe Machinist, you'll be responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC equipment to manufacture precision components that meet customer specifications. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to producing high‑quality work while supporting a safe and efficient manufacturing environment.
