Job description

Overview

Southwood is seeking Behavioral Health Associates to work with our adolescent patients in the Choices residential treatment program, currently located in Bridgeville, PA. All shifts available.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Demonstrate a sense of urgency related to the importance of patient safety and provide excellent customer service.
  2. Ensure the well-being of patients and provide a positive, supportive, and structured environment.
  3. Conduct safety checks and ensure supervision at 15-minute intervals or as per individual guidelines.
  4. Document clinical information accurately and timely in patient's medical records.
  5. Assist in maintaining a safe, secure, and comfortable environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
  6. Interact with patients, observe behaviors, and communicate significant findings to nursing staff.
  7. Assist patients with activities of daily living as needed, including toileting, bathing, dressing, grooming, oral hygiene, meals, hydration, and changing linens.
  8. Obtain and document vital signs, height, and weight as assigned.
  9. Facilitate patient educational and rehabilitative groups on topics like social skills, coping skills, anger management, and independent living skills.
  10. Engage patients in activities aimed at achieving treatment goals.
  11. Maintain required documentation and assist with incident follow-up and paperwork.
  12. Provide or coordinate transportation for patients as needed.
  13. Maintain a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude; address patient concerns and prioritize patient safety.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Six months or more experience working with the specific population preferred.

LICENSES/DESIGNATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • CPR and de-escalation and restraint certification required (training provided upon hire).
  • First aid certification may be required based on state or facility requirements.
