Legacy Staffing is seeking Direct Care Staff for a residential program in Bakersfield, CA. The role provides direct care, supervision, and support to residents with mental health needs, helping develop life skills and maintain a structured environment.

The position offers full-time hours with a pay rate of $19 per hour, DOE. Shifts include morning, afternoon, and overnight, and requires a California driver’s license, background checks, and compassionate, reliable contributions to a team.

Qualifications

• Minimum 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of experience providing services to mentally ill or similar populations preferred.
• Valid California driver's license, reliable vehicle, and clean driving record.
• Ability to pass health screening, TB test, and criminal background check including a Live Scan.
• Strong communication skills and personal qualities of warmth, responsibility, and respect.
• ASL proficiency preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site monitoring and assistance to residents.
• Support individualized service plans and daily schedules.
• Supervise medication administration per physician instructions.
• Conduct room checks and light housekeeping.
• Ensure compliance with house rules and provide crisis intervention when needed.
• Assist with organizing and supervising recreational, social, and cultural activities.
• Model and teach daily living skills such as personal care, budgeting, shopping, and maintaining an orderly home environment.
• Provide transportation for group outings.
• Participate in staff meetings and training sessions.
• Maintain client confidentiality and report unusual situations promptly.

Position Overview

This role is essential for providing care, supervision, and support to residents, helping them develop life skills and maintain a safe, structured environment. The ideal candidate will have experience working with mentally ill populations and a strong commitment to client well-being.

Key Responsibilities

Care & Supervision:

• Provide on-site monitoring and assistance to residents
• Support individualized service plans and daily schedules
• Supervise medication administration per physician instructions
• Conduct room checks and light housekeeping
• Ensure compliance with house rules and provide crisis intervention when needed

Group Activities:

• Assist with organizing and supervising recreational, social, and cultural activities

Shifts Available

• Morning Shift: 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM
• Day Shift: 3:30 PM - 11:30 PM
• Night Shift: 11:30 PM – 7:30 AM
