Job description

RBHA’s Women’s Residential Treatment (WRTC) provides gender-responsive treatment to individuals enrolled in the program. The overarching goal is to provide holistic personal recovery and wellness. The goal for pregnant women is to coordinate high quality prenatal health care commensurate with need and ensure uncomplicated, drug-free births of infants delivered while their mothers are participating in the residential program. The goal for postpartum and parenting women is to provide assistance in adjusting to parenthood, including bonding with her infant, infant care, interacting with her infant, preparing for infant/child development and parenting training.

Job Summary

Lead and mentor peers in the delivery of direct care services to individuals with behavioral health, intellectual, or developmental disabilities. Responsibilities include overseeing shift operations, supporting clinical coordination, and ensuring consistent implementation of treatment plans. Serve as a point person for program activities and contribute to service quality and team development.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Position Requirements

Minimum Qualifications— Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent

  • Certification or licensure as a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) or equivalent

  • 5+ years of experience in behavioral health, residential care, or direct support services

  • Demonstrated leadership experience in direct care settings

  • Proficiency in documentation and use of electronic health record systems

  • OR?an equivalent combination of education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities that demonstrates the capacity to perform the essential functions of the position, as permitted by applicable regulatory standards.

  • Possession of a valid Virginia driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record in accordance with agency policy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supervising or mentoring direct care staff

  • Familiarity with trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, and therapeutic programming

  • Training in Safety-Care, TOVA, or equivalent behavioral support models

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of behavioral health systems, treatment planning, and safety protocols

  • Skill in mentoring, coaching, and evaluating staff performance

  • Skill in auditing documentation and ensuring regulatory compliance

  • Skill in implementing therapeutic interventions and monitoring client progress

  • Ability to identify potential problems and implement solutions

  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, and interdisciplinary teams

  • Ability to learn and retain processes through instruction and apply them independently

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • This position serves as a lead worker, coordinating tasks and workflow for a team or unit. May provide input on performance but does not conduct formal evaluations or have disciplinary authority.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

This role, generally performs work under the following conditions:

  • Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects, including the human body. This role requires regular movement throughout the workday, including walking, stair climbing, and driving to community-based locations. Employees must be physically capable of navigating varied environments such as residential facilities, urban areas, and client homes.

  • Close concentration and visual attention required.

  • Normal working conditions. Work is typically performed in a standard behavioral health environment with minimal exposure to environmental hazards.
