Job summary

The Department of Developmental Services seeks a Direct Care Worker III in Lexington, MA to provide direct care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities, fostering growth and community integration.

The role requires MAP certification, a Class D driver's license, CPR/First Aid, and flexibility for mandatory overtime during emergencies; scheduled hours are 7am–3:30pm with Sun/Mon days off. The incumbent may supervise and train junior staff as assigned.

Qualifications

• Requires knowledge of the needs of persons with developmental/intellectual disabilities and their families/guardians.
• Ability to give clear instructions and coordinate activities.

Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing habilitative, behavioral and recreational programs; perform cooking/housekeeping; dispense medications as required.
• Communicate with individuals served to promote growth, rights and community integration.
• Assist and support individuals in understanding and exercising their rights.
• Report abuse/neglect as mandatory reporter; complete required paperwork.
• May drive individuals to work, appointments and outings.
• Perform crisis intervention and maintain confidential records.
