Job summary

Meridell Achievement Center, a 134-bed, seclusion-free psychiatric residential facility near Austin, seeks a Director of Support Services to lead maintenance, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and life safety programs on campus. You will plan preventive maintenance, supervise the team and manage safety inspections and record keeping.

Required include a degree in facility management or related field, 3-5 years of related experience with at least one year in management, and knowledge of Joint

Qualifications

  • Degree in facility management or related field preferred; or equivalent in related experience.
  • 3-5 years related experience, at least 1 year of management experience, and knowledge of Joint Commission accreditation, reading blueprints and understanding Life Safety Code and OSHA regulations along with Title 22 and Title 24 knowledge.
  • Knowledge of Life Safety, Environment of Care and safety/risk management protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day to day maintenance tasks and provide work direction to the maintenance team.
  • Perform skilled maintenance/repair and preventive maintenance on buildings and equipment.
  • Ensure maintenance paperwork for work orders, preventive maintenance items, and purchase orders is completed promptly.
  • Plan and supervise preventive maintenance activities and labor for Life Safety and environmental duties.
  • Provide training to newly hired maintenance staff.
  • Ensure infection control, OSHA regulations and safety policies are followed.
  • Attend mandatory facility in-services and staff development activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Meridell Achievement Center is a 134-bed, seclusion free, psychiatric residential treatment facility located northwest of Austin. Our 60-acre campus is complete with mature oaks, rolling hills, and plenty of walking paths and outdoor spaces. We have 7 unique living units separated by gender, age, and development needs with a swimming pool, gymnasium, sports court and playing fields. We provide 24-hour psychiatric care to girls and boys ages 10 to 17 years old with customized therapeutic approaches and intensive behavioral programs to teach young patients to moderate their behavior, manage emotions and improve social functioning.

Your Impact:

The Director of Support Services performs a variety of tasks, including painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, test and inspections of physical plant equipment, preventive maintenance and various janitorial duties, provides planning and supervision for preventive maintenance activities and labor to accomplish those tasks including but not limited to Life Safety, Environment of Care for patient areas and associated inspections and record keeping for those tasks.

Qualifications

Education: Degree in facility management or related field preferred; or equivalent in related experience.

Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years related experience, at least one year of management experience, and thorough knowledge and experience with Joint Commission accreditation, reading blueprints and understand Life Safety Code and OSHA Regulations along with Title 22 and Title 24 knowledge.

  • Assures the safe and efficient operation of buildings, equipment & grounds through provision of skilled maintenance, repair, and construction duties.
  • Perform Skilled maintenance/repair and preventative maintenance on all buildings and equipment.
  • Assures necessary maintenance paperwork related to work orders, preventative maintenance items, and purchase orders are completed and returned promptly in accordance with facility expectations.
  • Oversee day to day tasks of maintenance team and provides work direction as needed.
  • Provides training to newly hired maintenance staff.
  • Comply with established measures for infection control, OSHA regulations and Safety/Risk Management plans, policies and procedures.
  • Attend all mandatory facility in-services and staff development activities as scheduled.
  • Performs other duties as assigned/required by this position.
